Recommended Itineraries
Here are three recommended itineraries tailored to your vessel type and the experience you are looking for:
1. The Classic Route – Ideal for 40HP Engines
This is the perfect tour if you are renting a boat without a license. The route is well-sheltered and includes the archipelago’s most iconic landmarks.
Stop 1: Spargi Island (Cala Corsara). Cala Corsara is renowned for its turquoise waters and unique rock formations, such as “The Witch,” “The Bulldog,” “The Boot of Italy,” and the prehistoric cave.
Stop 2: The Natural Pools (Budelli). Head north toward Porto della Madonna, where the sea resembles a natural swimming pool. From here, you can view the famous Spiaggia Rosa (Pink Beach) from a distance (access and anchoring are strictly prohibited).
Stop 3: Santa Maria Island. Stop for a swim in the expansive bay or enjoy a light lunch on board under the shade of the sun awning.
Return: Caprera Island (Cala Coticcio). Known as “Tahiti,” this area is celebrated for its wild, granitic landscape.
2. Nature & Snorkeling
Caprera is the most rugged and pristine island, making it the ideal choice for snorkeling enthusiasts and lovers of dramatic granite scenery.
Stop 1: Cala Coticcio (Tahiti). Arguably the most beautiful beach in the archipelago. Please note: Landing on the beach requires a certified guide, but you may anchor outside the buoy line to enjoy the incredible waters.
Stop 2: Cala Portese or Cala Andreani. These spots offer pristine white sand and shallow, crystal-clear waters.
Stop 3: Cala Napoletana. Located at the northern tip of Caprera, it is often less crowded than Tahiti but equally stunning.
Stop 4: Moneta Bridge Crossing. If you are operating a smaller vessel (40HP), you can navigate under the bridge that connects La Maddalena to Caprera.
3. Costa Smeralda
If you prefer a change of scenery and wish to head south beyond the Archipelago, you can explore the most famous coastline in the world.
Stop 1: Cala di Volpe. Admire the world’s most exclusive hotels and the magnificent superyachts anchored in the bay.
Stop 2: Liscia Ruja. One of the longest and most beautiful beaches in the area, characterized by its golden sand.
Stop 3: Spiaggia del Principe. A crescent-shaped beach of fine sand surrounded by lush Mediterranean scrub.
Stop 4: Capriccioli Beach. The historic heart and birthplace of the Costa Smeralda.
